About TurnOut

TurnOut (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an online platform that helps people discover and join local group outdoor activities including cycling, running, and hiking. By using TurnOut at turnout.social you agree to these terms.

Who can use TurnOut

You must be at least 16 years old to create a TurnOut account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for any activity that occurs under your account.

TurnOut is a connection platform only

TurnOut connects people who want to participate in outdoor group activities. We do not organise, lead, or supervise any rides, runs, or hikes listed on the platform.

Rides are organised by individual users (“organisers”). TurnOut is not a party to any agreement between organisers and participants. We make no representation about the safety, suitability, or accuracy of any ride listing.

Safety and personal responsibility

Outdoor activities carry inherent risks. By using TurnOut you acknowledge and accept that:

  • You are responsible for assessing whether any activity is appropriate for your fitness level and experience
  • You should wear appropriate clothing, safety equipment (including a helmet for cycling), and carry necessary supplies
  • You should check weather and route conditions before setting out
  • You should inform someone of your plans when heading out alone or on unfamiliar routes
  • You participate in all activities entirely at your own risk

TurnOut, its operators, and its employees accept no liability for any injury, loss, or damage arising from your participation in any activity found through the platform.

Organiser responsibilities

If you post a ride or create a club on TurnOut, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, honest information about the activity (route, distance, difficulty, pace)
  • Notify participants promptly if you cancel or significantly change a ride
  • Take reasonable steps to ensure the safety of participants while on the ride
  • Not post activities that are illegal or that take place on private land without permission

Acceptable use

You must not use TurnOut to:

  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent ride listings
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
  • Promote illegal activities
  • Scrape or systematically harvest data from the platform
  • Attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours

Content you post

You retain ownership of content you post (ride descriptions, club information, profile details). By posting, you grant TurnOut a non-exclusive licence to display and store that content for the purpose of operating the platform.

You are responsible for ensuring your content does not infringe third-party rights.

Account suspension and termination

We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms, post harmful content, or are used in a way we consider abusive. We will endeavour to notify you before taking action except in cases of serious or repeated violations.

You can delete your own account at any time from your profile page.

Limitation of liability

TurnOut is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the platform will be available at all times or free from errors. To the maximum extent permitted by law, TurnOut's total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the platform is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (which for most users is nil, as TurnOut is currently free).

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of TurnOut after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. For significant changes we will update the “Last updated” date above.
